Lady Behind The Curtain - Gooey Brownie Crunch Bars

I’m so excited to share with you a recipe a dear friend from High School shared with me.  Her name is Mary Bowen, she is a VERY talented quilt maker and now also a GREAT recipe developer!  Thanks Mary for sharing your recipe with me!  🙂

This decadent dessert is so easy to make!  Whether you’re going to a church social, barbecue, picnic or a bunco game this dessert is what you want to take!  BE WARNED you will be approached for the recipe so take it with you.

Gooey Brownie Crunch Bar Recipe


1 box brownie mix ( plus ingredients on box)

1 bag of Oreo cookies, crushed

1 bag mini marshmallows (use approximately 3 cups)


Preheat oven according to directions on the brownie box.  Spray a 9×13 baking dish with non stick cooking spray and set aside.

Mix brownies as directed on box.

Pour half of the brownie mix into the prepared pan.  Sprinkle half of the crushed Oreo cookies on top of the brownie mix.

Cover with marshmallows.

Put the other half of the crushed Oreo cookies in the remaining browning mix  and put dollops of mix on top of the marshmallows.

Bake as directed on brownie mix box.  ( I baked mine for 30 minutes) Cool completely and cut into bars.

  1. Thank you for sharing. I have always loved cooking and sewing and recently got into quilt making. I couldn’t believe how yummy these were when I made them the first time. I have made them several times for family gatherings, potlucks and the first time I took them somewhere out of the house it was to a funeral for the husband of a dear friend and most of the ladies wanted the recipe right then. The brownies were the first dessert to go and they went fast. 🙂

      It’s more of a preference. You can make them a couple of weeks in advance if you freeze them. If you choose to make them the week of your event. I think they would be good for several days. (up to three) I hope this helps. Thanks for visiting. 🙂
