These treats are easy to make and fun for kids and adults. Give them as a nice take home gift or party favor on Thanksgiving, use them as a place setting decoration, or as a place card holder. The GREAT thing about this treat is, you can simply change the colors to match any event! So have fun with it. The cookies are sugar cookies and the frosting a creamy butter frosting. Here is the template for the tag that can also be used as a place card pick. Just tape a toothpick to the back.
Sugar Cookie Stacker Recipe (makes 15)
2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1-1/4 cups confectioners’ sugar
1 cup butter, softened
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 heaping tablespoons sprinkles (optional) extra for frosting
1 -1/2 frosting recipes (below)
15 – 5 ounce plastic punch cups
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Spray a 10 x 15 -in baking pan with non stick cooking spray. Set aside
Combine ALL ingredients and beat on medium speed, scraping sides as needed, until well mixed. Add sprinkles and mix.
Spread dough into the bottom of the prepared baking pan. Bake for 15 minutes, until they just start to brown. Cool for 5 minutes and using a round cookie cutter that fits into the bottom of the 5 ounce punch cup cut circles out of the baked cookie dough.
First line the bottom of the cup with frosting then layer in this order, a cookie, frosting , cookie and another layer of frosting. Adding sprinkles in between each layer.
Ingredients (1 recipe)
4 cups confectioners’ sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened
2 teaspoons vanilla
3 to 4 tablespoons milk
food coloring (optional)
Combine confectioners’ sugar, butter and vanilla. Add enough milk to get a fluffy frosting. Divide into 3 equal parts and add food coloring. Place the different colors into their own zip to bag, cut a small piece off of one of the corners to pipe with.
