Want to add a little bit of fun to your appetizer table?  Well HERE it is!  Now that you have the idea the combinations are limitless and don’t just think pizza you could use these cute spoons for a cheese spread or a great Italian dip!  Use pie crust for something sweet.  I think I forgot to mention that these were DELICIOUS!

Pizza Spoon Appetizer Recipe (Makes 24-26)

Ingredients

1 Pillsbury ready made pizza dough

1 to 2 teaspoons dried Italian herb blend (seasoning)

cooking spray

1 small jar pizza sauce

1 small bag mini pepperoni

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

spoon template

Directions

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.  Print out the Pizza Spoon Appetizer Template  on card stock, choose the size of spoon you’d like your appetizer to be and cut out.  The pizza dough doesn’t expand that much so the spoon size you choose will be close to the size of your appetizer.  I chose the second from the end going from right to left and thought it was the perfect size.

Roll the pizza dough out to a 11×14 inch rectangle.  Sprinkle the dried Italian herb blend over the entire surface of the dough and press in.  Lay the spoon cut out onto the pizza dough and trace around using a small pizza cutter or I used a small pie crust cutter.  I first tried a paring knife and if didn’t cut as clean.

Lay cut spoons on a cookie sheet sprayed with non stick cooking spray.  Press down in the center of the spoon to make an indention and prick with a fork.

Bake for 3 minutes, take out of the oven and press down again using a small spoon and bake for an additional 2 minutes.  Add toppings: 1 teaspoon of pizza sauce, 1 tablespoon shredded cheese, 3 mini pepperoni rounds and bake for another 8 to 10 minutes.  NOTE:  I baked them for an additional 10 minutes and they got a little darker then I wanted.  They still tasted amazing so you be the judge as to how dark you’d like your spoons.  TIP:  I used scissors to cut away the cheese that had fallen on the sides and onto the cookie sheet.  It gives the spoons a nice finished look.  This is a LBC Original!

I have been organizing BIG church events for over 25 years. From Thanksgiving dinners, Vacation Bible School, Fall Festivals, Easter Brunch and Rodeo Fest. I think I’ve done it all and loved every minute of it. So I decided to bring some of that experience to Lady Behind The Curtain. Of course writing a blog is way different then orangaizing an event.
