  1. I’m glad to find this recipe. My husband and I lived in Nevada for a year and used to eat a delicious cabbage salsa in Fallon. It was our first experience with this (we’re from Texas) but it was the best of any kind of salsa we ate while living there.

    • Hahaha that is exactly why I looked for this recipe as well. I loved la fiestas cabbage salsa!!!! And I just moved here to Texas in December hahaha. That’s funny.

  6. We have an El Rosal here in MOdesto but they do not put cilantro or green onions in the cabbage salsa and they do put vinegar and a tad of oregano. The El Rosal in Riverbank is heavy on the oregano which is to strong for me so we always go to a specific restaurant in Modesto. We have more than one but prefer one over the others. We also have Damiens. Thanks for the recipe posting! Love the salsa!

    • The El Rosal in Riverbank has different owners and is completely different then the ones in Visalia, Ca. I hope you love the recipe as much as I do. 🙂

  7. I don’t know the name of the Mexican restaurant in Ely NV but thats where I had a cabbage salsa and loved it. Looked a few years ago and didn’t find one, this could be it, I can’t wait to try this.

  8. I lived in Visalia, CA for 25+ years. I moved to Woodland, CA two years ago with my son who is attending UC Davis. Kyle is an agriculture major and works part time at the student organic farm. This morning I googled ‘Cabbage Salsa” and was pleasantly surprised to find your authentic El Rosal recipe. I just made the salsa and it is fabulous. Like you, I use to ask for a bowl of my own every time we ate at El Rosal. Thanks so much for this recipe.

I feel like it’s very thinly sliced cabbage, but just checking. I am so excited to make this, thank you Sheryl so much!!
