Homemade Praline Fudge: A layer of dark chocolate fudge on the top and the bottom, a caramel praline center with chopped pecans. No more trips to the candy store… now you can create your favorite holiday fudge right in your own kitchen. This fudge is super easy to make with no special tools required. So easy, the praline center is made in the microwave!

How to Make Homemade Praline Fudge

  • INGREDIENTS (complete printable recipe below)
    • FOR THE CHOCOLATE FUDGE LAYERS:
      • 14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk
      • 12 ounces semi sweet chocolate chips
      • 6 ounces milk chocolate chips
      • 2 tablespoons butter
      • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • FOR THE MICROWAVE PRALINE CENTER:
      • 2 cups light brown sugar
      • 2 cups pecans, chopped
      • 5 ounces evaporated milk
      • 1/4 cup butter
      • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • DIRECTIONS
    • FOR THE CHOCOLATE FUDGE LAYERS:
      • Line a 10-inch baking dish with foil , with ends of foil extending over sides and spray with non stick cooking spray.
      • Heat the milk, chocolate chips, butter and vanilla in a double boiler over simmering water.
      • When the chocolate is almost melted start the microwave for the praline candy.
      • Stir until the chocolate is melted and mixture is smooth.
      • Add half of the fudge to the prepared pan and refrigerate.
      • Keep the 2nd half of the fudge on the double boiler with the burner of low.
      • Stir occasionally.
    • FOR THE MICROWAVE PRALINE CENTER:
      • Combine all ingredients in a 2 quart microwave safe bowl.
      • Microwave at high 5 minutes, stir well.
      • Microwave another 5 minutes, stir well.
      • Take the chocolate fudge out of the refrigerator.
      • Pour Praline over fudge.
      • Refrigerate 5 minutes.
      • Add remaining fudge that has been kept warm.

HOW LONG DOES FUDGE STAY FRESH?

Homemade fudge is good for up to 3–4 weeks when stored in the refrigerator. Make sure to store it in an airtight container to keep it fresh as long as possible. 

CAN YOU FREEZE FUDGE?

Praline Fudge
You can freeze fudge for up to 3 months. I would wrap it tightly with plastic wrap and then put it in a freezer zip top bag or other airtight container.  Defrosting overnight in the refrigerator.

For the Chocolate Fudge Layers:

  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk

Notes

TIP: Some of the foil might stick to the caramel. Make sure you peel ALL of it off.

  3. I made these last year for the first time to bring to a friend’s winter birthday celebration. They were such a hit that this year I am making multiple batches for holiday gifts to give to my hair guy, work colleagues, neighbors, book club, etc. (And they freeze beautifully, so I may have Valentine’s Day covered, too!) Thanks for an easy and delicious recipe; it has already become a tradition.
