Unicorn Hooded Scarf with Pockets Crochet Pattern — 92 Comments

    • Hello 🙂 Not yet! But you can easily change the starting chain for the hood (add about 10 stitches) and add some rows to the scarf (about 10 – 15 rows) for an adult. You could also use chunky yarn instead of worsted weight. I hope this helps!

  1. So I’m at row 2 for the increases. And making the pattern like it reads. My count is more than 59 stitches. If you put 2 hdc in each stitch across from the previous row of 40 I have 81. Please explain what it means. Do I hdc in one and 2 hdc in the next and repeat? Thanks.

      • This helps tremendously because I interpreted the directions differently and had way over 59 stitches. I am modifying the pattern a bit as I am using a size P hook and Bernat Blanket Yarn because it is so soft.

      • Does the Ch2 at the beginning of the row count as a stitch? It says to hdc in same stitch, which I did, then increased in the next and continued the 1hdc then 2 hdc in next and ended with 60 stitches, not counting the ch2. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. 🙁

    • You could shorten the starting chain by about 10 stitches. Then make the scarf shorter (by 8-10 rows, maybe?) Hope this helps!

  3. Hi, how wide is the scarf part please? I saw it is about 65 inches long, but could not see the width. Could I also ask for the size that the pockets should be?

  5. Hi!! Thank you so much for the pattern! I have made about 10 of the hooded scarves using your pattern with various different animal patterns including the unicorn! Everyone loves them! They are super easy to make and your pattern is very simple to follow. Thanks again 🙂

  6. I just made 3 of these for my nieces who are in love with unicorns. They will be a hit at Christmas I am sure! It was easy to follow and fun to make. I was able to make them in three different sizes by changing the gauge too. I loved it! Thanks for the pattern, pictures and pointers!

  7. Do you have this for sale, I love craft projects but crochet is not on my list:-) My niece is 7 and loves unicorns so I thought this would make a great Christmas gift!

  8. Made this for a niece for Christmas and she LOVED it. My other niece loved it so much that she asked for one too, but she wants a zebra one 🙂 In the process of making that now. Thanks so much for the pattern <3

  9. When you did the hair did you go all the way down the hood or just on top? And how do you keep the end of the strings from unraveling?

    • I did it about halfway down the hood. As long as they’re not pulled on the hair should stay. Mine is still in good condition after a couple years.

  10. I’m excited to make this for my granddaughter who is all about unicorns right now. The pattern seems easy enough but my question is this… Is the ivory the only bulky yarn used? Please help me with this small issue. Thank you for your help and for sharing the pattern.

  11. I completed one however mine is pretty small. I went up one hook size but that didnt help. Was wanting to make 2, one for a 10-12 sized girl and one for a 14-16 sized girl. Amy suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    • Hi! You can make the scarf any length. You can go up an additional hook size, or as rows until it’s the size you want 🙂
