NOTE: This recipe is for 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder. If you choose to use less then you may need to decrease the amount of buttermilk….or….add the difference in confectioner’s sugar and keep the buttermilk the same.
The Ultimate Dark Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting
- 1 (8 ounce) block of cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup unsweetened dark chocolate cocoa powder
- 5 cups confectioners' sugar
- 5 tablespoons buttermilk
Mix butter, cream cheese, vanilla and cocoa on medium until creamy (about 3 minutes). Alternate 1 cup of sugar and 1 tablespoon of buttermilk until both are added. Mix on medium high until light and fluffy (about 3 minutes).
