How to Make Restaurant Style Pineapple Apricot Glazed Chicken Wings
THE INGREDIENTS (full printable recipe below)
- CHICKEN WINGS: My favorite part of a chicken wing is the little drum stick, others prefer the flat. For that reason I purchase a big bag of chicken party wings with the flats and drumsticks already separated from the tip and each other.
- PINEAPPLE PRESERVES: If you can’t find straight pineapple preserves, I used Pineapple Passion Fruit and it was delicious!
- APRICOT PRESERVES: Offers a sweetness and great apricot flavor.
- RUSSIAN DRESSING: Russian dressing is a creamy, slightly spicy spread made from mayonnaise, ketchup, sour cream, prepared horseradish, and dill relish. If you can’t find it in your grocery store you can substitute it with Thousand Island dressing
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat the oven to 400°.
- Wrap two baking pans that have a rim with foil.
- Place chicken wings on prepared pans.
- Bake 20 minutes, turn over and bake an additional 20 minutes or until golden brown and no longer pink.
- In a saucepan, whisk together the pineapple preserves, apricot preserves, and Russian dressing until well combined.
- Bring to a boil, turn down heat and simmer (uncovered) 15 minutes. Set aside.
- When chicken wings are done baking, put the wings into a large bowl, add to the sauce and toss until completely coated. Serve extra sauce on the side.
What Do I Use If I Can’t Find Pineapple Preserves?
ANY FRUIT CHUTNEY: What is chutney? Chutney is a condiment or spread made from chopped fruit cooked with vinegar, spices, and sometime sugar.
ROASTED PINEAPPLE AND HABANERO SAUCE: This sauce is delicious. I have found it at Costco. It can also be purchased on Amazon. Using some of this sauce will add a little extra kick to the chicken wings.
How To Always Have Pineapple Apricot Glazed Chicken Wings At Your Fingertips
HOW TO FREEZE PINEAPPLE APRICOT GLAZE SAUCE: I like freezing my sauces in a freezer safe zip top bag. Pour cooled sauce in a freezer safe zip top bag, lay the bag on a flat surface in the freezer and let them freeze completely. SHORT ON SPACE? FOLLOW THIS IDEA. →After the sauce has frozen, store this sauce and all your other sauces like books lined up on a shelf. This helps a lot with space. The sauce will stay fresh up to 6 months. WHEN READY TO USE: Take the sauce out of the freezer the night before, place in the refrigerator to thaw. When ready to use, heat in a small saucepan.
