Sometimes your busy schedule doesn’t allow the time it take to make your own. Here is not only an easy but delicious solution to your problem. Semi Homemade Caramel Apple Cinnamon Rolls! With added apples and caramel your friends and family will never know you started with a can of store bought refrigerated cinnamon rolls.
This recipe starts with a product I love. Pillsbury Grands Cinnamon Rolls. Dress up these beauties for a brunch and knock your guests socks off!
Add prepared apples to a skillet and add butter, cinnamon and sugar. Cook until tender crisp and the butter, cinnamon and sugar become a thick syrup.
Gently release the whole roll from the can and unroll the cinnamon rolls all together.
Fill the roll with the prepared apples.
Add a drizzle of caramel ice cream topping.
Roll back into place (this will be a little messy).
Slice on the perforations and place on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake and spoon on the caramel icing.
Semi Homemade Caramel Apple Cinnamon Rolls
For the Cinnamon Rolls
- 1 (17.5 ounce) can Pillsbury Grands Cinnamon Rolls
- 2 small apples, cored, peeled and chopped
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup caramel ice cream topping
For the Caramel Icing
- icing provided with the cinnamon rolls
- 2 tablespoons caramel ice cream topping
For the Apples:
Place chopped apples in a medium saucepan, add the butter sugar and cinnamon. Sauté until tender crisp and the butter, sugar and cinnamon mixture has thickened. Set aside.
For the Cinnamon Rolls:
Preheat oven to 350°. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Gently take dough out of the can (all in one piece) and unroll all the cinnamon rolls (still in one piece). Add the prepared apples to the rolls; drizzle caramel on top of the apples. Gently roll them back the way they were out of the can (this will be messy). With a sharp knife slice the rolls on the perforation and place on prepared cookie sheet. Bake 25 minutes. While the rolls are hot spoon caramel icing over the cinnamon rolls.
For the Caramel Icing:
Pour icing provided with the cinnamon rolls into a small bowl. Add caramel and stir until combined.
