Could I substitute tortilla chips for the pecans and use taco seasoning to give it a Mexican flare?
That’s a tough on Rene. I’m concerned about the tortilla chips becoming soft from the moisture of the dip. Fritos might work but than there’s the matter of it being too salty. Maybe the best route to go is to do a taste test first. Make the dip, use a corn chip, and see if it’s too salty. If not, than proceed with corn chips instead of tortilla chips. It is only on the top of the dip. So, if some guests think it’s too salty they can skip the portion with the chips and use a cracker. Crackers have salt but not as much as chips. Also, the jelly in the center helps cut through the salt.
Could you add diced apples to this recipe? I’ve been craving apples, lately. How about pepper jelly instead of fruit jelly?
Hi Vicky, Sure! Those are great ideas.
