Three Musketeers Muddy Buddies | Customize your muddy buddy mix with your favorite candy bar! Whether you call them muddy buddies or puppy chow is up to you. All I know is they are DELICIOUS! Adults and kids love this mix. Perfect for a Valentine’s Day Party or Game Day! This time I decided to package it up and hand out as a party favor. The kids didn’t know until they were getting ready to leave. I surprised them with a large basket full of party favors.
Normally I make a big batch for my hungry game watchers. Sometimes I even customize a special batch for each of them with their favorite candy bar. Let’s not forget about birthday parties!
Take the recipe even further and add stuff! Like pretzels, nuts, trail mix and mini M&M’s. Add all or some or all! These Three Musketeers Muddy Buddies are super easy to make too!
Choose a cute container for your party favor like this mini basket I found in the Dollar Spot at Target.
- 8 cups rice square cereal
- 7 regular size Three Musketeer bars, pulled into bite size pieces
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 3/4 cup confectioners' sugar
Measure out the cereal and pour into a large bowl. Set aside.
In a large saucepan, melt butter and candy bars over low heat. NOTE: I have an electric stove (I know let’s not go there, someday I’ll get a gas stove) I had the setting on level 2. The key to success is low and slow. Continuously stirring until completely melted.
Pour melted candy mixture over cereal and gently stir to completely coat cereal. Evenly sprinkle confectioners’ sugar over cereal. Stirring to cover evenly.
When completely dry fill cellophane bags. TIP: I put the bags in the containers empty then filled them. That way the bag is already formed to your container and you don’t smash your delicious party mix.
Check out this fun party!
